The region is constructing and designing its future on the basis of a tradition of excellence and an unending quest for quality.

Limousin Expansion therefore designs and develops innovative projects in four of the region's main sectors of excellence.

High-tech microwave, photonic and secure network industries (Elopsys)

Elopsys, a hi-tech competitiveness cluster in the Limousin, brings together leading players in the microwave, photonic and secure network industries. Entrepreneurs, researchers and students, all sharing the same desire to develop each other's potential, use this forum to pool their expertise.

They share the same objectives: the development and attractiveness of the Limousin region based on key advantages for industry, research and teaching.

Ceramics and new materials

Its strong tradition of success in the ceramics field means that Limoges has been the major focus of European funding for research, training and engineering in this industry. At the heart of the European Center of Ceramics, a recognised competitiveness cluster, is the Institute for Processes Applied to Materials (IPAM).

Interactive and digital design

The “eDesign Excellence Cluster” brings together students, project initiators, companies and experts in the field of creativity and “new media” content. It draws on the skills of three research bodies: the CeReS (Centre for Semiotic Research), the XLIM laboratory (Mixed Research Unit run by the University of Limoges and the CNRS) and the CREOP (Centre for Research into Enterprise, Organisations and Heritage).

Environment, health and food

The Limousin region’s biotechnology, animal genomics, health and environment laboratories have been brought together under an umbrella body called GEIST (Genomics, Environment, Immunity, Health and Therapeutics).

A wide range of Limousin actors also work actively in two national competitiveness clusters: Cancer-Bio-Health and InnoViandes. Since 2006, around twenty companies from the water and environment sector have developed a collective developmental strategy within one association: PEL (Limousin Environment Cluster).

In the biotechnology sector, a club of businesses and research teams has been created to support innovative projects: INVIVOLIM. In parallel, ALIA (Limousin Association of Food Industries), supported by Limousin Expansion, is working on the design and establishment of a cluster in this area.
